In Schwaber Kerson, Toba: "Epilepsy and Media" (Manuskript) im Zusammenhang mit epileptischen Anfällen genannt. Qayamat is a Persian word denoting the Islamic concept of the final judgment or doomsday.) from Toba Kerson's notes: Two unscrupulous Muslim arms dealers and their girlfriend are working with Pakistan’s secret agency ISI to launch biological warfare on India. They are holding 230 tourists hostage on an island near Mumbai for a hefty ransom and the promise of safe conduct from Indian shores. Unless this is done, they will contaminate the city’s drinking water supply with a deadly virus which will kill whoever drinks the water. Hot in pursuit is police officer Akram Shaikh (a patriotic Muslim), who decides to enlist the help of a Hindu convict (Ajay Devgan), who is a former accomplice of the arms dealers, to nab them. The convict is the only person who was successful in escaping from Elphinstone jail at one time and knows a secret way into the fort. But right now, he is kept in solitary confinement and has degenerated almost into a vegetable – being often drugged by doctors because memories of his lost love make him violent. His episodes are termed as “fits” in the movie. The inspector, a scientist researching the antidote for the deadly virus and the convict together with trained commandos form a rescue team and go into the fort to rescue the tourists. The inspector is killed in combat and it is up to the convict to save the day. The convict is shown suffering from “fits” where he either becomes violent or goes into a catatonic state. One of the “fits” is at the most crucial time when all members of the rescue team, except the scientist and the convict, have been killed. The convict is just standing still under gushing water, seemingly oblivious to the chaos around him while the scientist pleads with him to snap out of it. At the moment, he hears his former girlfriend’s voice assuring him that she is still alive and that he should fight. He recovers at the sound of her voice, charges on and saves the day in true Bollywood style.
