Handlung

Vincent van Gogh scheitert als Prediger und Ehemann. Nach dem Tod seines Vaters (Schlaganfall) wird er endgültig Maler. Er bleibt aber trotz der Bemühungen seines Bruders Theo, der ihn als Galerist lebenslang unterstützt, erfolglos. In Arles zerstreitet er sich mit seinem Malerkollegen Gaugin. In einem psychotischen Anfall verletzt er sich selbst und wird u.a. mit der Diagnose Epilepsie in die Psychiatrie eingewiesen. Er stirbt nach einem gescheiterten Selbstmordversuch.
